Hi, I'm Isobel. I'm a licensed therapist working with individual adults and couples in person in San Francisco and remotely throughout California.

I do this work because healing is possible and the past doesn't need to keep holding you back. I love helping people find a greater sense of internal freedom so they can express themselves more authentically and feel more meaningfully connected to themselves, others and life itself.

Just as the body can heal from even serious injuries if given the right conditions, the psyche also has a remarkable ability to heal. Therapy provides those conditions and cultivates this innate capacity for greater psychological well-being.

Everyone has a story. You deserve skillful and compassionate support in unpacking the one you've lived so far, and in creating the one you want going forward.

Therapy is a relationship, so your experience will be as unique as you are. It’s a collaboration between us that responds to whatever is alive and needing attention in your world. Depending on your needs, therapy can provide a safe space to:

Process tough experiences and receive support with the difficulties of being human, freeing up your energy to be fully present for your life.

Resolve internal conflicts that may be troubling you (for instance, you keep seeking out unavailable partners, despite wanting better; you keep engaging in harmful behaviors, despite wanting to stop; you treat yourself with a harshness you’d never tolerate from others).

Learn to work with painful emotions in ways that reduce their grip on you.

Get to know yourself more deeply; understand how your experiences have shaped you. As we illuminate what’s operating below the surface, we create more opportunities for change.

Learn to see yourself with more kindness and self-acceptance.

Grieve your losses and be compassionately accompanied in the heartbreak.

Access your emotions and develop greater self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

Differentiate your authentic self from the conditioning and messages you’ve received, clarifying your emotions, desires, values and needs.

Know that an hour of your week is set aside just for you, without distractions or responsibilities, as a safe harbor to reflect, think, and feel, deeply and freely, and to be supported, seen, heard, and known.

The benefits of therapy can include:

  • A greater sense of joy, aliveness, vitality and calm.

  • More energy for the people and things you care about.

  • Reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression.

  • Greater emotional resilience, recovering more quickly from painful emotions/events.

  • Support with making and maintaining desired behavior changes.

  • Stronger relationships; better communication skills; deeper emotional intimacy with self and others.

  • Self-discovery; expanded awareness of, kindness towards and confidence in yourself.

  • A greater sense of meaning, alignment and purpose in life.

  • More motivation, creativity and authentic self-expression.

  • Realizing your unique strengths and gifts more fully.
